Wondering what to do in Cape May this Valentine’s Day? You might think of Cape May as a summer-only hotspot, but it’s actually a year-round community with plenty of fun things to do, even in the winter. February may be cold – and a little quiet – but it’s a very romantic spot any time of year. If you’re visiting for Valentine’s Day you must make time for the following:

The Beach

Cape May’s beaches are just as beautiful in the winter as they are in the summer, and they’re more private. On Valentine’s Day you can enjoy the sunset, visit the lighthouse, birdwatch and walk the nature trails. You’ll have to bundle up, but it’s worth it to get some alone time with your Valentine.

Cape May Wineries

Cape May is home to many great wineries, many which boast award winning wines. Plus, on February 18 Hawk Haven will offer special tastings for the annual New Jersey Wine and Chocolate Trail Weekend (12pm – 5pm). Enjoy delicious wine and chocolate pairings and support local wine growers.

MAC Trolley Tours

On Mid-Atlantic Center for The Arts trolley rides, friendly guides will lead you through Cape May and share everything you need to know about America’s first seaside resort. There are many different rides to choose from – so pick one that focuses on the interests of you and your Valentine. From Cape May’s Victorian heritage to seashore and maritime history, there’s something for everyone.

A Delicious Dinner

The New York Times named Cape May the culinary capital of New Jersey. There are so many great places to eat, you’ll have a hard time choosing.

  • Beach Plum Farm is offering two Valentine’s Day dinners. One on February 10 and another on February 14. Each meal is 4 courses and will be prepared with fresh ingredients, all from Beach Plum Farm. Reservations are required. $175 per couple, plus tax and gratuity. BYOB.
  • The Ebbitt Room is hosting a 4-course dinner for $85 per person on February 14. Choice of entrees includes duck breast, wagyu short steak, yellowfin tuna, and short rib. Seating is limited and reservations are also required.
  • The Black Duck on Sunset is one of the coolest restaurants in town. It offers an airy atmosphere, eclectic menu and great raw bar selection. For a special Valentine’s dinner, Black Duck is the place to be.

The Brown Room

For a cozy after-dinner drink, visit The Brown Room at Congress Hall. The Brown room is a great place to visit on chilly winter evenings (or after long walks on the beach). A roaring fireplace, friendly bartenders, and a warm setting make it a great place relax and kick back.
