Among the beaches, sites and interesting things to do in Cape May, the streets are lined with historical buildings, homes, and artifacts.

One of the most notable homes is located on Hughes Street.  This home, also known as the Cherry House, has been renovated many times, but it is believed to be built originally in 1849,  the time of the Revolutionary War.  Frank and Beth Acker are the current residents, living there since 2000.  Before that, it was owned by Lois Kulp, who lived there for decades.

The Owners believe the House is Haunted-You Can Take a Tour

The Ackers believe the house is haunted, possibly by Mrs Kulp herself.  Doors are constantly opened, even if they are locking them shut.  Rooms would occasionally become extremely cold and uncomfortable.  The house was bought and sold many times in the beginning, with many $1 transactions, and the structure shows there were many additions and modifications put on.  It still holds many of the classic features and looks on the inside.  While it is beautiful and historical, it still gives off a creepy feeling, with possible paranormal activity occurring inside the home.

Fun Stuff to do Rain or Shine in Cape May

If you and the family are looking for something unique to do, especially as Halloween is just a few weeks away, take a tour of the Cherry House.  Every Thursday night, the Acker family invites people inside to see the antique furniture, murals, and even feel the discomfort in the home. It’s a fun evening and something you can do if the weather just happens to be uncooperative if you’re in town.
