You can’t beat spring and summer in Cape May. Every year there are so many fun things to do. From events like the Easter Fashion Stroll, Spring Boardwalk Classic Car Show at the Wildwood Boardwalk and J Audubon’s Cape Maygration Cape May Spring Birding Festival to actives like Lighthouse Full Moon Climbs, Cape May really does have something for everyone. Here’s what’s coming up.

 

Lighthouse Full Moon Climb | April 19 | Cape May Lighthouse

Let the light of the full moon guide you. At the Lighthouse Full Moon Climb, you’ll journey up 199 stairs to the very top of the Cape May Lighthouse. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to see the light of the moon at the top, weather permitting. The Cape May Lighthouse is located in Cape May Point State Park, Lower Township. Presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).

 

Easter Fashion Stroll | April 21 | Rotary Park

Join the City of Cape May, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May and the Small Businesses of the Washington Street Mall for the Annual Easter Fashion Stroll! This longstanding event will begin at 1pm (registration begins at noon). Participants will be judged in several groups and categories including ages three and younger, four to six, seven to nine, 10 to 12, 13 and older, best dressed lady, man, couple, family as well as best Easter bonnet for youth and adults. Awards includes Easter treats, gift certificates, and ribbons.

 

Steaming Cool Jazz Concert with Behn Gillece Quartet | May 6

This year, the Steaming Cool Jazz Concert features a genuine rising star in the jazz world: Behn Gillece. Behn has been wowing audiences on the East Coast with his amazing vibes. He’s already produced five of his own albums and played on countless others by top flight musicians. Behn is gaining quite a reputation. His quartet will play selections from his new CD, Parallel Universe in addition to some contemporary jazz favorites.

 

Spring Boardwalk Classic Car Show at the Wildwood Boardwalk | May 9 – 12 | Wildwood Boardwalk

Every Mother’s Day Cape May hosts The Spring Boardwalk Classic Car Show at the Wildwoods Boardwalk. Here, participants enjoy exclusive events including a kick-off dinner party plus discounts and specials sponsored by local restaurants and businesses.

In the end, 30 winners will be picked by a team of judges. Each vehicle selected as a “Boardwalk Top 30″ is then entered to the “Best of Show” category. Anyone can enter – cars must be over 10 years old. Win cash prizes, door prizes, and trophies! This awesome event is fun for the whole family.

 

J Audubon’s Cape Maygration Cape May Spring Birding Festival | May 16 – 19 | Grand Hotel

Don’t miss The Delaware Bayshore host this magical Horseshoe Crab/shorebird spectacle, and this year’s enjoy activities like trolley trips, special walks, field workshops and indoor programs that include sunset activities on Friday. Add to this to the cacophony of warblers singing and sporting their spring best and you’re in for a fantastic festival.

This year Kenn Kaufman is, again, the Saturday night Keynote speaker. Registration includes a wide selection of bird walks with talented local naturalists as well as educational and entertaining indoor programs. 3-day registration is $185 while daily registration fees are $69. Plus, take advantage of special experiences available only to registrants like coveted walk at the US Coast Guard Training Facility and small group walks with Pete Dunne, Kevin Karlson, Kenn Kaufman and David La Puma (additional fees apply). On Friday evening don’t miss Scott Whittle present What’s a Warbler? followed by an exciting sunset and moonrise with spawning horseshoe crabs on nearby beaches!

 

Cape May Music Festival | May 26 – 30 | Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts

Join us in celebrating 30 years of beautiful music in Cape May. This year The Cape May music festival presents classical, chamber, jazz and more! From the Atlantic City Brass Band to the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players, there is sure to be a show that will please everyone!
