It’s always a little sad to see summer come to a close. But, Cape May is a year-round destination with plenty of fun things to do even in the off season. But, for the next few weeks, however, we’re excited to welcome guests celebrating Labor Day in Cape May. Here’s what’s coming up this year.

 

Friday, August 30

The Beach Bumz Band – Free Concert at Convention Hall

Where: Cape May Convention Hall

The Beach Bumz band delights audiences with surf music from greats like the Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffet. Come and enjoy this tribute band that brings the sounds of paradise to Cape May this Labor Day weekend. The show takes place at the Cape May Convention Hall – 714 Beach Avenue and starts at 6pm.

 

Junior Clamshell Pitching Tournament

Where: Beach Access at Windsor Ave

Details: As summer comes to an end, enjoy a fun Cape May tradition – the Rick Reinhart Junior Clamshell Pitching Tournament. This contest is the longest-running tournament of its kind in the region. To participate, each player tosses a clamshell and attempts to sink it in a small hole. Shells are provided but kids are welcome to bring their own lucky clamshells. Trophies will be handed out for all winners and runners-up in singles and doubles competition.

 

Saturday, August 31

Summer Send-Off Craft Show on the Promenade

Where: Cape May Promenade

At this craft show, you’ll find dozens of crafters offering everything from jewelry to leather goods, fashion accessories, water colors and more. There’s absolutely something for everybody here. Do some early holiday shopping or find the perfect artisan gift for yourself.

 

The Tomato Festival in the Wilbraham Park

Where: Wilbraham Park

This quirky festival celebrates New Jersey tomatoes and the end of the summer season in Cape May. Festivities begin at 9am and go until 5pm. All proceeds benefit the WCM Shade Tree Commission and their efforts to protect and improve the tree canopy in Cape May.

 

Sunday, September 1

Sidekicked

Where: Cape May Stage

Enjoy this intimate look at America’s favorite sidekick – Ethel Mertz – on the last night of filming “I love Lucy.” This new production offers a behind-the-scenes view of the TV hit “I Love Lucy” and some incredible untold stories from Vivian Vance’s career.

 

Nature and Wildlife Show

Where: Cape May Convention Hall

Steve Serwatka presents this New Jersey Nature Program. Visit with Steve as he explains his efforts to save and rehabilitate wildlife. Plus, meet some of the animals he’s rescued and learn about what you should do if you encounter a critter who needs help.

 

Monday, September 3

Nicki Sbaffoni Live

Where: Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille

With a mantra of “strum and wail”, Nicki Sbaffoni surprises audiences with her creative and powerful versions of favorite songs. She has an eclectic song menu, offering close to 500 songs from all genres and eras!
