The holidays will certainly look a bit different this year. But, that hasn’t stopped Cape May Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities from putting together an excellent seasonal program for your holiday enjoyment! While some traditional events have been either postponed or canceled, most are scheduled as usual and offer tremendous holiday fund for the whole family. Here’s what’s coming up.

Holiday Tree-lighting Ceremony

Kick-off the holiday season with the Cape May Holiday Tree-lighting ceremony. As in years past, Santa and his elves have decked the halls of the Physick Estate with countless lights and holiday trimmings. Visit the Estate for a free performance by the Atlantic Brass Band and cheer on Santa as he lights the tree!

 

Physick Family Christmas House Tour

There’s no better time to visit the Physick Family Estate. Here, you’ll enjoy the authentic Victorian decorations of Christmases past. On this tour, walk through the Physick family home, decorated in true Victorian fashion. Plus, enjoy a unique living history for an especially authentic experience. While you’re here, visit the Old-fashioned Christmas exhibit at that Carroll Gallery, an amazing Dept. 56 Dickens Village under a giant Christmas tree.

 

Holiday Lights Trolly Rides

One of our favorite ways to enjoy the holiday season in Cape May is to take trolly rides through the town’s historic district. Here, you’ll find festively decorated homes and enjoy expert talks about Victorian Christmas traditions plus Christmas music. There’s nothing better to get you in the holiday spirit.

 

Evening Yuletide House Tour

Take a 30-minute guided tour of the first floor of Cape May’s 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, decorated in authentic style for a Victorian Christmas. See how the Physick family would have entertained for the holidays. Afterward, visit the Carriage House for a visit to “An Old-Fashioned Christmas” exhibit.

 

A Dr. Physick Christmas Tour

Dr. Physick welcomes you, personally, to his home! Join Dr. Physick on this wonderful tour of his Cape May home. He’ll take you on a tour while pointing out Victorian decorations and telling stories of his family and friends at Christmas.

Lamplighter Christmas Walking Tour

Sign up for this immersive experience where the Lamplighter endeavors to solve a Christmas time mystery. – maybe you’ll help him discover some clues along the way. Join your fellow sleuths for A Man. A Lamp. A Mystery.

 

An Old-fashioned Christmas Exhibit

A Cape May holiday favorite, at An Old-fashioned Christmas Exhibit, invites you to enter a holiday wonderland that is a Dept. 56 Dickens Village collection beneath the boughs of our giant Christmas tree. All this plus old family photos, trains and more. There’s even a place to drop off your letters to Santa! Located at the Carroll Gallery in the Carriage House.
