The town of Cape May is not only known for its beautiful beaches and gorgeous resorts, but it is also an area that takes pride in their locally produced goods.  The downtown area of Cape May is host to many different historical sites, attractions, shops, and farmers markets.  But what makes these shops special is that many of them are family owned, and sell things that they produce themselves.

Cape May Peanut Butter Company opened last November, and is run by the same family who own and operate the Cape May Olive Oil Company.  Using only natural ingredients and never adding preservatives, the Spatocco family has created 10 different flavors of peanut butter for consumers to sample and purchase.  They also make their own jams and preserves, and some small baked goods using their own peanut butter.

Another popular store is the Cape May Honey Farm.  Opened more than a year ago by Doug and Andi Marandino, they started a bee farm to produce local honey.  Coming from a family of beekeepers, they now sustain their own bee farm and make pure honey unlike the honey in the supermarket, most of which has preservatives and does not contain the pollen and wax which is very beneficial for your health.  Standing out from the many fudge and ice cream stores, their all natural honey and knowledge of bees are attracting many visitors of Cape May.
